Effect of bentonite on fly ash and bottom ash based engineered geopolymer composite

Fly ash, bottom and bentonite have potential to be used as geopolymer precursors, because they contain high silica alumina. Until now there has been no research that combines these three materials materials. This aims incorporate an aluminosilicate source in the fly ash based geopolymer. Geopolymer concrete was made by mixing alkaline activator, aggregate (gravel), superplasticizer, water. The characterization of carried out using XRD, XRF, SEM-EDS. Then compressive strength test out. SEM-EDS results show elements contained are dominated Si, Al, O. XRF results, constituent compounds alumina compounds. XRD phase formed Quartz, Albite, Hematite. sample with code K6, which did not bentonite, had highest value 9.57 MPa 8.92 at a drying time 18 hours 24 hours, respectively. can happen addition reduce retraction process. also causes porosity increase, thereby reducing its strength.
